Title: Leadership Trainer

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license, insurance, and an ability and willingness to travel. This is a contracted position.

 

Location: Training takes place virtually through an online training platform. Contracted work includes local and nationwide in-person programs that our facilitators will lead on site. Translation: This job will take you around the country!

 

Who we’re hiring: We’re looking for college-aged students/young adults & recent grads scattered across the country (and potentially, the world!) who are available on an as-needed basis! This is not a full time or part time position, this is a contracted position where you can expect to work anywhere from 2-4 days a month, out of town, visiting schools and leading our programs.  No matter what city you’re in, we want YOU to join us to help build young leaders through the facilitation of our programs.

 

About Legacy Youth Leadership 

Legacy Youth Leadership (“Legacy”) is a nonprofit organization that is building better leaders who will build a better world. Legacy knows that young people are not just the future, they are the present. Legacy runs free youth leadership and mentoring programs in low-income school communities that teach students how to use their time, their money, their voice, and their vote so they can be leaders TODAY. We prioritize making our programs available to students living in low-income & underserved communities. Legacy’s Programs develop, mentor, and equip young people with the skills & experience they need to reach their academic goals, make a REAL impact on the world around them, and thrive.

 

Opportunity: 

We’re looking for passionate and energetic people who are committed to educating and inspiring young people in leadership and service. Leadership Trainers are remote agents who will travel to school locations to facilitate our in-person leadership programs. Our leadership programs are in-person workshop style, skill building, service learning based experiences. We need new team members to help us meet the growing demand of these programs.  This opportunity is for someone who cares about building better leaders who will build a better world.

 

As a Leadership Trainer, you will start with two weeks of virtual training upon hiring. After this virtual training, we will host a three day in-person training with all Education Staff to coach you on your ability to effectively lead an in-person program.  

 

We’ll give you all the tools to become a master at leading our high energy, engaging, interactive and dynamic leadership programs to audiences of all sizes and demographics. Our team plans to reach over 7,000 students this year through our in person leadership programs and we need a small group of contracted super humans to help make this happen. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Over the course of one year, lead 5-10 different Leadership programs at different schools around the country by facilitating our workshop style experiences that include breakout groups, presentation style teaching, games, and self assessments. Must have flexible schedule to run 1-2 programs per month minimum.
  2. Become an expert on our programs, including the activities, platforms, presentations, skills, and assessments we offer during our in-person experiences.
  3. Inspire ALL students to be part of our additional programs beyond our Leadership Program, including our Club Program, Mentorship Program, Service Trips, Scholarship Program, and Legacy Summit. 
  4. Facilitate passoff between you and Legacy HQ to maintain relationships with all students, teachers, and schools that participate in our programming.

 

Skills Required:

 

  1. Charisma and Stage Presence: Confident and engaging presenter with the ability to captivate the audience. Must have good stage presence!
  2. Outgoing: Must feel comfortable talking & connecting with anyone you meet.
  3. Reliability and Punctuality: With only a few gigs per year, we need trainers who are reliable and punctual when duty DOES call and the team is counting on you to lead one of our programs.
  4. Student-centered: You’re driven and motivated to develop students as leaders. You must love to work with young people because you will be the face of our organization in front of thousands of students who experience our programs.
  5. FUN!!: Youthful, highly relational, with student leadership experience preferred. Tell us you can lead young people without actually telling us you can lead young people!

Compensation and Perks

  1. ALL Travel and Meals paid for while working for Legacy. (Flights, Hotels/Homestays, Food Per Diem).
  2. Compensation: You will be paid a Day rate of $200 for each day you run programming. Expectation is an average of 3-5 days per month.
