Activism & Charity

In addition to developing students as leaders, LYL connects young people with the tools you need to make real impact on the causes YOU care about. The three primary causes that we are currently focused on include:

  1. Water Crisis
  2. Climate Change
  3. Gender Equality

In June of 2021 and then again in July 2021, we surveyed several thousand of our student leaders to ask YOU which causes you wanted us to provide you with tools to take action around. We heard you loud and clear! Students OVERWHELMINGLY said Climate Change. (By a 33 percentage point differential!) After Climate Change, students expressed immediate concern and request for tools they could use to make a positive impact on Gender Equality, followed closely by Racial Justice & Equity, followed by Homelessness, followed by Animal Rights.

Our Board spent several months researching, vetting, and building relationships with organizations leading the world’s efforts to address Climate Change and Gender Equality, respectively. Beyond high ratings in the nonprofit sector for transparency and impact, chief amongst the Board’s goals in selecting partner organizations for each of these issues was the ability for students to take specific action steps that would make CLEAR, MEASURABLE impact on each of these broad issues. Rainforest Trust & She’s the First do just that.

We are excited to activate our community around these three issues and in support of each of these three partner organizations who are changing the world for the better. Young people have the opportunity to learn more about each of these issues in more detail as well as put their newfound skills & resources to work by leading advocacy and awareness campaigns for the following organizations:

  1. Thirst Project
  2. Rainforest Trust
  3. She’s the First
